Note: Internet Explorer v10 is compatible only when running Windows 7 or newer, but not by default. If you are using IE 10, review the Enabling TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 in Internet Explorer article to enable TLS 1.1 or higher encryption. Windows Vista, XP and earlier versions are incompatible and cannot be configured to support TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2.
The DSST exam is administered using an internet based testing platform.

If your testing machines are functioning in what is known as “Compatibility Mode”, test takers might experience an error message. That’s because it is not a supported configuration for TC Net which might cause the background operating system to incorrectly identify your browser version. For example you may have Internet Explorer 11 installed, but it may appear as IE 7 to your operating system.
If this happens, the error message would indicate that a non-compliant browser is being used. Below, we’ve included some samples on how this message might appear:
Here’s How to Prevent Any Error Messages
If you receive such an error message – and know you are on a compliant browser (or know you are running in Compatibility Mode) – we suggest you disable the Compatibility Mode. For your convenience, we have attached easy-to-follow directions for how to turn off Compatibility Mode.
If you have any questions or problems, please contact us for support by emailing DSSTIBTReadiness@Prometric.com with the subject line reading “Compatibility Mode”.
