DSST Spotlight: UMUC

November 22, 2016

At DSST, our nationally recognized testing program allows students to earn college credit for learning acquired outside the classroom. That’s why we pride ourselves on the relationships we hold with established colleges and universities across the country. It’s about the shared approach of empowering all types of students to reach their academic goals efficiently, effectively, and affordably.

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on our partnership with University of Maryland University College (UMUC). A public university and part of the University System of Maryland, UMUC specializes in career-relevant online learning. UMUC has provided educational opportunities to students for nearly 70 years, and enjoys a global reputation of excellence.

Not only does UMUC accept all 34 DSST tests as college credit, but they’ve created customized resources to help their students use the tests to reach their degree sooner.

One resource is an intuitive, interactive chart that shows course equivalents for each test, minimum score requirements, and course credit details.

UMUC has also placed test centers in different parts of the country for its military students, making it easier for them to serve our country and reach their academic goals simultaneously.

UMUC Director of Transfer Credit and Degree Build, Andrea Bellis helps students transfer DSST test credits, and explains how the program has really opened doors. Says Bellis, “The tests allow our students to pursue degrees and careers that truly interest them. It’s been a real game-changer for their success, and as a result, for our success too.”

Whether your focus is healthcare, business, cyber security, public safety, or one of dozens of other fields, UMUC and DSST are here to help you learn, graduate, and get to work in a field you love.
